So, lil E stayed over last night. We had a lovely evening of math homework and Muppets. All seemed well enough…. but this morning….
She
I usually let her sleep in, because she needs it, and then we just hurry a bit getting ready in the morning. She pretended to have this efficient little plan by which I would put the school things in the car, while she ran her sleepover-things home, giving her a few minutes to “say good morning to Daddy” before I pull the car up to take her to school.
When I pulled up, merely a minute behind her, there’s yelling. It turns out her actual plan was to dash home not, in fact, to greet her family but rather to shave her legs. Mind you, this is “we’re 2 minutes late already” o’clock in the morning.
Her father is understandably annoyed, but the scene is a little out of control: he keeps yelling about how she’s selfish and irresponsible. I promise to “speak to her” about it and we hurry off to school. In the car I have some stern words to say about planning ahead, keeping priorities straight, and telling me the truth about what she needs.
She’s gonna be all kinds of interesting trouble next year…..
(…and I can’t wait.)
Meanwhile, her current favorite music videos:
And these…
Kei$ha: Your Love Is My Drug
Paramore: Misery Business
Owl City: Fireflies (I quite like this one.)
She also approves of Taylor Swift, in general (Love Story, You Belong with Me, and Our Song) and Lady Gaga (though she finds the videos a bit too shocking). She still likes Miley Cyrus but not Hannah Montana. I tease her: “You know they are actually the same person, right!?”
