vive la france

Bastille Day! Lots of good company and good wine, and some serious food. Liz found us some excellent French recipes, and Paul did the cooking while I played sous-chef. Crepes, of course, with berries, and also with a roasted onion/carmelized pear/blue cheese business. Leftovers v g on toast. Paul did a beautiful lemon rosemary cake (I actually knew a french kid who used to make it) and a scrumptiously custardy french apple cake (which is halfway to pie), and we made a tomato tart that I would be happy to eat every day. We were going to make croque monsieur (that would be grilled ham and cheese, when it’s at home) but never quite got around to it.

Xak was totally the life of the party, toddling after pretty women to get blueberries, and addressing all cats and stuffed animals as “good doggie.”
