Summer Solstice
First official day of summer… usually in NC it’s hot and humid starting on Groundhog’s Day, but this year we’re having an amazing, beautiful, mild June. Mornings are cool and not too sticky, afternoons get hot and stormy, evenings cool down again after the rain. The garden loves it!  And what do you know:  in the mail today, my worms arrived!  Yes, 250 earthworms in a box…  I ordered them online for a worm-compost-bin.  Worm-composting is not gross because it is not smelly, and earthworms are delightful pets. I
Paul and I took a break mid-day to sneak out and get Sno-Balls at Chilly’s. Â :)
And I’m finally – FINALLY! – done painting!  (Unless I decide to do the hall and the dining room…  but it won’t be any time soon!)  “Emily’s room” is now sky-blue. Her original plan for the color scheme was light blue walls, green door trim, yellow window trim, orange stenciled starfish and the actual doors were going to be hot pink. The futon is purple, so that pretty much covers the spectrum. I’ve exercised some mild veto powers and chosen a very pale yellow for the trim, and I think we’ll aim the hot pink, orange, and green at the bookshelf. The bookshelf is one of a set that we had in our playroom when we were kids, and it’s been lots and lots of different colors over the years. It can handle whatever Emily wants to throw at it, including orange starfish.
I’m trying very hard not to think about the fact that I’m taking the GRE this Saturday. It should be fairly hilarious.
