√  FBI fingerprinting:  Why do I have to do this every year?  I mean, I understand why they have to run a background check each year, in case I suddenly decide to take up bank-robbing as a hobby, but why don’t they just keep the fingerprints on file?  It’s not like my fingerprints change each year!?!

√   DMV records:  seriously

√   medical exam  – you would not believe what that stupid doctor said to me.  There’s a section on the form asking if I am medically unable to become pregnant, if I have received fertility treatment, if it was successful, if there’s any chance with further treatment I could get pregnant, etc.  WHO CARES!?!  It’s an ADOPTION form.  Why are they even asking this?  Plus, the doctor, who only sees me once a year, doesn’t think to look at my file and has to keep asking me why I can’t get pregnant.  I DON’T KNOW.  I will never know.  Thanks for asking.  Would you like to give me papercut now and then pour lemon juice on it?  And THEN she says, probably everything they told me at the fertility clinic was a bunch of nonsense and I just need to loose weight.   Needless to say, this doctor is FIRED.  At least this is the last time I’ll have to go through this…  I hope, I hope.  But if, God forbid, I have to do another homestudy update next summer, I’m adding “Find new doctor” to this list.

I really really hate this.  I know I’m not supposed to complain about this stuff, but I HATE going through this.  Pregnant moms-to-be never get asked these questions.  Nobody checks their driving records.  Nobody fingerprints them for the FBI.  Nobody looks at them funny and says “Why are you doing this again?”  “Why aren’t you doing something completely different?”  “What’s wrong with you?”   People are just happy for them.
